The artists of this bull jumper were trained egyptian ivory sculpture artists. This piece of art was found in the palace of Knossos located on the island of Crete. It is made out of ivory with gilt bronze. A website said it was a "tense and slender figure probably coming from a group of participants in the bull-sports, in which an acrobat would confront a charging bull, turn a somersault over its horns, and leap off its back." This daring hobby was a religious rite in the greek culture. A number of early cultures associated their gods and god-rulers with powerful, especially the lion and the bull. Both males and females took part in this and they mostly did it to impress the other sex or show off how strong and powerful they are becuase only the most athletic could sucessfully complete this.
